Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!

We hope you had a wonderful holiday break with your kids but we are really glad to have them back! We have many things coming up that you should know about so following is a bulleted list for your quick review:

• There will be a community meeting on Thursday, January 7. This is an open forum to discuss ideas you may have for our school. Open house is also Thursday evening at 6:30. One classroom from each level will be open.
• We will have no school on Monday, January 18 due to the MLK holiday.
• KFC hot lunch will be on Wednesday, January 27th. Please send in your $3.50 by NOON Tuesday, January 26. Milk or water will be available for purchase for an additional $.50 each.
• Friday, January 22 will be our field trip to ECU Arts Smart Play Charlotte’s Web. The tickets for the play were purchased a few months ago. Unfortunately there were a few people who missed the deadline for turning in their money. We will send information to those families regarding where your child will be during field trip time. We will be eating lunch in Greenville at CiCi’s Pizza after the play on January 22. Please return the permission form along with $5 for lunch that day. If you are planning to go to lunch with us, parents will be able to pay separately at the restaurant. We also will be needing drivers who can drop off the children at the play and return to help transport them to CiCi’s, then back to the school.
• There will be a half day on Friday, January 29. Dismissal will be at 11:30. This is a make-up day for the one missed in November due to heavy rains.
  Parent Education will be Jan. 28, Feb 4, and Feb 11. The information was sent home along with your Monthly FYI or in an email.
• Our ECU Auction basket is coming together but we are still in need of donations for the basket. The Auction will be February 20th. We have raised enough money for one season ticket for the 2010 football season; we would love to be able to include 2 season tickets. If you are able to make a monetary donation, or know of a business that would be willing to contribute please let us know. For businesses, we will be acknowledging the contribution in the yearbook as well as at the auction. This could be a great advertising opportunity for businesses! We have received the following items so far: ECU Snuggie, scarf, 2 can koozies, a hat, a t-shirt, a car flag, a Pee-Dee doll and a purple draw-string tote. Bed Bath & Beyond has some great ECU tailgating chairs for $20 each. A couple of these would be a great addition to the basket as well. U.B.E. and the University Bookstore also have a HUGE selection of different items in various price ranges. Check them out the next time you’re in Greenville! Some window decals might be cool or key chains or license plates etc., etc.
