Reminders

Thank you for all your help with the upcoming field trip. Please remember that the field trip permission forms and money are due by Friday, October 1. We will also be hosting Doughnuts for Dads this Friday. This is a wonderful time for the students to share a work with their Dad.

A few parents have asked for things to work on at home. Study Island is a very useful tool to use at home. The third graders already have their passwords and the second years are currently working with Mrs. Barmer to set up their user ids.

Multiplication facts are very important to learn before the end of third grade. We have the students working with facts in the classroom and reinforcing those skills is such a huge help.

The biggest thing to work on at home is reading with your child. We see improvements with reading skills with those that read each night at home. For first years this is such a critical time for reading skills and building comprehension. While reading with your child, if they struggle with a word for 3 seconds provide them with the word. If they struggle with a word longer the child begins to forget what was previously read, and lowers their comprehension. We use BOB books in the classroom for the beginning readers, for read aloud we are currently reading the first in the Magic Treehouse series so that everyone is familiar with the characters for our upcoming field trip.

If anyone would like to volunteer in the classroom our garden is in need of some TLC. With fall finally approaching it has seen better days.

Thank you for everything you do to support our classroom. If you have any questions please come see us anytime.

Thank you,
Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Boudreaux
